Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed downward trend in early trading on Thursday as risk-averse investors opted for quick-profit on sector specific shares.
Following the previous day’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened marginally lower amid thin trading activities.
After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell more than 9.0 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 1.24 points when the report was filing at 10:30am.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, went down by 9.56 points or 0.17 percent to stand at 5,480 points, when the report was filed at 10:30am.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 4.0 points or 0.19 percent to reach at 2040 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also fell 1.69 points or 0.13 percent to stand at 1,271 points till then.
Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stands at BDT 665 million when the report was filed at 10:30am.
Paramount Textile led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 76 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Beximco Pharma BDT 58 million, Brac Bank BDT 35 million, CMC Kamal BDT 35 million and Shahjibazar Power BDT 32 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 72 advanced, 106 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse CSE also saw negative trend in early trading with its Selective Category Index - CSCX – losing 1.24 points to stand at 10,298 points, also at 10:30am.
Of the issues traded till then, 38 gained, 38 declined and 19 issues remained unchanged with a turnover value of BDT 26 million.
