Bangladesh’s stocks keep downturn at midday on Thursday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks kept its downward trend at midday on Thursday as risk-averse investors continued their selling spree on sector specific stocks.
Following the previous day’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened marginally lower amid thin trading activities.
Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell more than 9.0 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 1.24 points at 10:30am.
After first hour of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,477 points, losing 12.72 per cent while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 1.79 points at 11:00am.
After two hours of the trading, DSEX went down by 18.82 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city’s bourse fell 16 points when the report was filing at 12:00 noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
After first half of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,471 points, losing 18.82 points or 0.34 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 9.0 points or 0.44 percent to reach at 2035 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 4.30 points or 0.34 percent to reach at 1,268 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.41 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Active Fine Chemicals led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 150 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Paramount Textile BDT 121 million, Beximco Pharma BDT 117 million, Central Pharma BDT 89 million and MJL Bangladesh BDT 72 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 91 advanced, 167 declined and 52 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 16 points to stand at 10,282 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 63 gained, 91 declined and 32 issues remained unchanged with BDT 918 billion in turnover.
