Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks stayed the positive trend at midday on Wednesday, the opening day after Eid vacation, as optimistic investors continued their buying spree on sector specific stocks amid optimism.
However, the presence of the investors is thin on the trading floor as many investors are yet to come in Dhaka after Eid holidays.
Trading and official activities on the bourses remained closed from June 23 to June 27 on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, including weekly holidays, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
The trading on the bourses started at 10:30 am and will continue till 2:30 pm.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 15 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 10 points when the report was filing at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX stands at 5,620, advancing 21 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 31 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE rose nearly 19 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 27 points when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
After one and a half hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,618 points, advancing 18.73 points or 0.33 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips rose 7.49 points or 0.36 percent to reach at 2079 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 2.14 points or 0.17 percent to reach at 1,288 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.95 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
LankaBangla Finance led the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 194 million changing hands till then, closely followed by CVO Petrochemical BDT 133 million, Prime Bank BDT 94 million, Brac Bank BDT 81 million and Regent Textile BDT 69 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 153 advanced, 71 declined and 59 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 27 points to stand at 10,517 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 65 gained, 48 declined and 23 issues remained unchanged with BDT 77 million in turnover.
