Bangladesh’s stocks stay red at midday on Thursday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the negative trend at midday on Thursday as cautious investors continued on profit booking mood on sector specific stocks.
After witnessing correction in the past three consecutive sessions, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw downward trend amid slow trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 6.99 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 5.0 points at 10:45am although first 10 minutes was in positive territory.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX fell 14 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 32 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE lost 1.58 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse fell 19 points when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,774 points, losing 1.58 points or 0.02 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 1.03 points or 0.04 percent to reach at 2120 points.
However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) stayed positive zone, advancing 0.41 points or 0.03 percent to reach at 1,315 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.20 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
IFAD Autos was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 138 million changing hands, closely followed by Mercantile Bank BDT 135 million, Fu-Wang Food BDT 70, Keya Cosmetics BDT 68 million and Shahjibazar Power BDT 60 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 107 advanced, 132 declined and 68 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw downturn till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –losing 19 points to stand at 10,819 points, also at 12:00 noon.
Of the issues traded till then, 71 gained, 91 declined and 42 issues remained unchanged with BDT 96 in turnover.
