Bangladesh’s stocks open negative on Monday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed negative trend in early hour of trading on Monday as investors are on selling mood on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous day’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened lower with thin trading activities.

After first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell more than 13 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse lost 20 points at 10:45am when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 13.80 points or 0.22 percent to reach at 6,151 points, when the report was filed at 10:45am.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also fell 3.54 points or 0.19 percent to reach at 2,196 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.60 points or 0.19 percent to stand at 1,364 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at BDT 445 million when the report was filed at 10:45am.

Of the issues traded till then, 97 advanced, 71 declined and 45 remained unchanged.

The banking sector continued to dominate the turnover chart with Jamuna Bank led the chart till then with shares worth BDT 70 million changing hands, followed Shahjalal Islami Bank BDT 41 million, National Bank BDT 31 million, BBS Cables BDT 29 million, Uttara Bank BDT 26 million.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw negative trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – losing 20 points to stand at 11,555 points, also at 10:45am.

Of the issues traded till then, 34 gained, 40 declined and 10 issues remained unchanged with BDT 21 million in turnover.
