US ambassador presents credentials to President

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dan Mozena, Ambassador of the United States of America to Bangladesh, presented his credentials to President Zillur Rahman in Dhaka on Thursday.

Ambassador Mozena conveyed to President Rahman his intention to broaden, deepen and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the United States and Bangladesh, a US embassy press statement said.  

In addition, Ambassador Mozena emphasized that a strong U.S.-Bangladesh relationship is in the interests of the United States and the American people, Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi people, as well as the regional and global community.  

“Bangladesh matters to the United States.  Today, on the American holiday we call Thanksgiving, I feel grateful for the opportunity to return to Bangladesh and to continue the important work of promoting a peaceful, secure, prosperous, healthy and democratic Bangladesh for all its people, now and into the future,” he said after the ceremony at the Presidential Palace.

Ambassador Mozena arrived in Dhaka on November 19, 2011.  He previously served in Bangladesh as Political and Economic Counselor from 1998 to 2001.  

A member of the Senior Foreign Service, Dan Mozena was the U.S. Ambassador to Angola from 2008 to 2010. Other postings have included Islamabad, Kinshasa, Lusaka and New Delhi, as well as assignments in Washington, DC.
