Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A 36-member business delegation led by FBCCI President AK Azad left Dhaka with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Burma Monday morning.
The Bangladeshi delegation would discuss with their Burma’s, officially known as Myanmar, counterpart how to increase regional trade, investment and export.
The business delegation would request the Burmese ruling establishment to allow duty-free market access and export of more Bangladeshi goods to their country, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) said.
“The Bangladeshi business delegation will take initiatives to ensure trade balance between the two countries by removing tariff and non-tariff barriers on export, resolve problems of investment and increase land port and banking facilities,” the country’s apex trade body added.
Bangladesh and Burma would also sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the formation of Joint Business Council (JBC).
FBCCI and UMFCCI (The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry) presidents will sign the MoU on behalf of their respective sides, according to the FBCCI statement.
