Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks turned positive at midday on Wednesday as some investors are showing their buying spree on sector-wise large-cap stocks.
Following the previous day’s sharp rise, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive with low trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 0.55 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse fell 16 points at 10:30am.
After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 3.20 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 20 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 6.25 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 18 points at 12noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,258 points, gaining 6.92 points or 0.11 percent at 12noon.
The two other indices saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 5.58 points or 0.25 percent to reach at 2,263 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 1.73 points or 0.12 percent to reach at 1,381 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.29 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.
Islami Bank Bangladesh was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 82 million changing hands, closely followed by BSRM BDT 67 million, Fine Foods BDT 38 million, City Bank BDT 37 million and Legacy Footwear BDT 33 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 160 advanced, 87 declined and 64 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of – advancing 18 points to stand at 19,370 points, also at 12noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also advanced 10 points to reach at 11,713 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 77 gained, 58 declined and 37 issues remained unchanged with BDT 105 million in turnover.
