Bangladesh’s stocks turn mixed at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks turned mixed at midday on Thursday as investors followed cautious mood ahead of year-closing.

Following the previous day’s marginal correction, the premier bourse saw negative trend while the port city’s bourse witnessed positive, but trading activities remained low.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 6.80 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse advanced 14 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 1.98 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 20 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 7.55 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index fell 8.16 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,232 points, gaining 7.55 points or 0.12 percent at 12noon.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.47 points or 0.17 percent to reach at 1,378 points.

However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, fell 0.62 points or 0.02 percent to reach at 2,251 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.05 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Eastern Housing was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 41 million changing hands, closely followed by Western Marine Shipyard BDT 30 million, Simtex Industries BDT 29 million, Padma Life Insurance BDT 28 million and Olympic Industries BDT 27 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 163 advanced, 87 declined and 58 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

However, the port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downturn till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of –losing 8.16 points to stand at 19,249 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 6.69 points to reach at 11,635 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 68 gained, 45 declined and 31 issues remained unchanged with BDT 48 million in turnover.
