Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks extended the losses for the two consecutive sessions on Monday as cautious investors continued their selling mood.

Following the previous day’s downturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with slow trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 1.69 points while the All Share Price Index of the port city bourse gained 4.46 points at 10:45am.

After that the market started to decline and the downturn continued till end of the session amid thin participation of investors.

Finally, the key index of the country’s prime bourse closed 57.91 points lower while 9 points while the All Share Price Index of the port city bourse plunged 143 points at closing.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went down by nearly 58 points or 0.92 percent to settle at 6,210 points.

The two other indices also closed lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 21.76 points or 0.95 percent to close at 2,261 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 8.23 points or 0.58 percent to finish at 1,394 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.77 billion, which was 1.82 percent lower than previous day’s turnover of BDT 4.85 billion.

Paramount Textile topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 175 million changing hands, closely followed City Bank BDT 166 million, IFAD Autos BDT 162 million, Brac Bank BDT 150 million and National Tubes BDT 134 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 67 advanced, 213 declined and 54 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Dragon Sweater was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 6.40 percent while Shympur Sugar Mills was the worst losers, losing 4.32 percent.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with its All Share Price Index – CAPSI –losing 143 points to finish at 11,291 points.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX – also lost 88 points to close at 11,633 points.

Of the issues traded, 55 gained, 140 declined and 37 issues remained unchanged with BDT 401 million in turnover.
