Bangladesh’s stocks stay down at midday Wednesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the downward trend at midday on Wednesday as cautious investors continued their selling spree.

Following the previous day’s marginal fall, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw negative trend while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened marginally higher amid low trading activities.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell more than 11 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 8.0 points at 10:30am.

After first hour of trading, the DSEX lost more than 15 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 37 points at 11:00am.

After two hours of trading, the DSEX fell more than 12.40 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse lost 30 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,379 points, losing 12.40 points at 12:00 noon.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also fell 7.21 points or 0.57 per cent to stand at 1,255 points till then.

However, the DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 6.28 points or 0.32 percent to reach at 1,997 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.48 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

BRAC Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 202 million changing hands, closely followed by Intraco Refueling Station BDT 165 million, Queen South Textile BDT 90 million, Bangladesh Steel Re-rolling Mills BDT 85 million and Legacy Footwear BDT 57 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 90 advanced, 158 declined and 55 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) saw downward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – losing 30 points to stand at 16,610 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 17 points to reach at 10,047 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 41 gained, 79 declined and 19 issues remained unchanged with BDT 75 million in turnover.
