Bangladesh’s stocks stay in positive trend at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the positive trend at midday on Monday as some investors continued their buying appetite on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous two days’ upbeat note, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid low trading activities.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse rose nearly 30 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 41 points at 10:30am.

After first hour of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 20 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 37 points at 11:00am.

After two hours of trading, DSEX advanced nearly 7.0 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 14 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,464 points, advances 6.12 points at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 8.95 points or 0.44 percent to reach at 2,032 points till then.

However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) fell 0.77 points or 0.06 per cent to stand at 1,268 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.92 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Al-Arafah Islami Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 137 million changing hands, closely followed by Intraco Refueling Station BDT 125 million, Queen South Textile BDT 95 million, United Power BDT 94 million and BRAC Bank BDT 88 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 101 advanced, 169 declined and 53 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse advancing 14 points to stand at 16,847 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 10 points to reach at 10,196 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 43 gained, 96 declined and 21 issues remained unchanged with BDT 74 million in turnover.
