Bangladesh’s stocks stay upbeat at midday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the upbeat trend at midday on Wednesday as investors continued on buying binge on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous day’s marginal gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 26 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 32 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX rose more than 46 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 51 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 37 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 96 points at 12noon, when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,418 points, advancing 37.63 points or 0.69 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 7.04 points to reach at 1,899 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 4.08 points to stand at 1,245 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.38 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.

Khulna Power was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 183 million changing hands, followed by Dragon Sweater BDT 87 million, VFS Thread BDT 82 million, BD Finance BDT 76 million and IFAD Autos BDT 75 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 199 advanced, 83 declined and 41 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–gaining 96 points to stand at 16,681 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also rose 60 points to reach at 10,103 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 104 gained, 55 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with BDT 104 million in turnover.
