Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - VFS Thread Dyeing dominated the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s weekly turnover chart while ten most-traded stocks accounted for more than one-fifth transaction.
Market operators said investors showed their appetite on VFS Thread shares almost throughout the week as its share price has been soaring without having any undisclosed price sensitive information.
The VFS’s share price soared 28 per cent within a month to close at BDT 29.30 on Thursday. Its share price was BDT 22.90 a month earlier.
According to data available with the DSE, about 19.79 million shares of VFS Thread were traded, generating a turnover of BDT 613 million, which was 2.54 per cent of the week’s total turnover of BDT 24.10 billion.
The company’s share traded between BDT 15.30 and BDT 63 each in the last one year.
The company’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at BDT 1.04 in six months for July-December 2019 as against BDT 1.02 for July-December 2018.
The VFS Thread, which was listed on the DSE in 2018, disbursed 6.0 per cent cash and 10 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 1.02 billion and authorised capital is BDT 2.0 billion while the total number of securities is 102.50 million.
Far Chemical came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth BDT 512 million changing hands. The company’s share price closed at BDT 11.20 on Thursday, remaining unchanged over the week before.
Square Pharma clinched the third spot, with shares worth BDT 510 million changing hands. The company’s share closed at BDT 185.20, losing 4.20 per cent.
LafargeHolcim emerged fourth with shares worth BDT 490 million changing hands. The company’s share price dropped 4.10 per cent to BDT 42.30 each.
Orion Infusion notched the fifth spot, with shares worth BDT 476 million changing hands. Its share closed at BDT 80.80 on Thursday, shedding 6.12 per cent.
The turnover of Central Pharma was BDT 475 million. The company’s share price jumped 21.01 cent to close at BDT 16.70 each. It was also the week’s highest gainer.
Orion Pharma featured a turnover of BDT 460 million. The company’s share closed at BDT 42.40, losing 4.29 per cent.
The turnover of Silva Pharma was BDT 430 million. Its share price also fell 4.29 per cent to close at BDT 20.10 each.
The Beacon Pharma featured a turnover of BDT 425 million. The company’s share closed at BDT 63.20, advancing 6.40 per cent.
Indo-Bangla Pharma also made its way to the week’s top turnover chart, with shares worth BDT 405 million changing hands. The company’s share price fell 5.10 per cent to close at BDT 24.10 each.
