Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The government has hired two deputy governors (DGs) for the Bangladesh Bank (BB) for three years.
The newly appointed deputy governors are-- Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury and Dr. Md Kabir Ahmed, executive directors of the central bank, according to a notifications, issued by the Financial Institutions Division (FID) of Ministry of Finance on Sunday.
With the new appointments, the number of deputy governors at the central bank is now four.
After the mass uprising on 5 August, two deputy governors of the central bank, Kazi Saidur Rahman and Khurshid Alam, stepped down.
In response, the government formed a search committee on 12 August, led by former comptroller and auditor general Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, to fill the vacant positions.
