Bangladesh Bank Cuts Policy Rate to 9.5% After 2 Years

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The central bank of Bangladesh has cut its policy rate, or repo rate, by 50 basis points to 9.5 per cent from the existing level of 10 per cent, marking the first change in the rate since October 2024.

The decision was taken at the 13th meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), the first for fiscal year (FY), 2026-27, held at the central bank's headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday with Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman in the chair.

The revised rate will take effect from August 2, 2026, according to a press statement.
