Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A delegation of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has said lack of necessary infrastructure facilities is a key barrier to the foreign direct investment in the country.
The country could not attract desired level of FDI although it has vast opportunities for FDI, members of the visiting delegation said at a meeting with Industries Minister Dilip Barua at his ministry in the capital Dhaka on Monday.
The delegation included UNCTAD experts Quentin Dupriez and Hans Baumgartem and consultant Rory P Allan.
The UNCTAD officials said they would provide all-out technical support to Bangladesh to help prepare a comprehensive investment policy.
The draft of the integrated investment policy will be completed by September this year, they said adding that the policy would help boost FDI flow and internal investment in industrial and services sectors.
Dilip Barua said Bangladesh is one of best destinations for FDI and sought continued technical support from UNCTAD to increase the FDI flow.
