Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The first Asia Pacific Chambers Congress, held in Kunshan, Jiangsu, China, reached a consensus to oppose trade protectionism and create a sound and harmonious environment for international trade.
The congress also agreed to deepen relations and reciprocal cooperation and serve as a business platform for companies allover the world apart from upholding the spirit of free trade.
The fourth meeting of the ICC Regional Consultative Group (RCG) for Asia Pacific and Taskforce meetings and the first Asia Pacific Chambers Congress was held in China on March 29-30, a press statement said.
The meeting was jointly arranged by China Chamber of International Commerce (CCoIC) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), China.
Business leaders from China, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand attended the congress.
ICC Bangladesh president Mahbubur Rahman along with its executive board member Rashed Maksud Khan attended the events.
The first Asia Pacific Chambers Congress also attracted representatives from international organizations, chambers, business institutions and companies from both Asia Pacific Region and other parts of the world.
The meetings put emphasis on actively facilitating the balanced development of trade in the respective country and region, advocate to expand domestic demand to push the economic growth against the background of a slow global economic growth, making due contributions to the full recovery of the world economy.
Mahbubur Rahman moderated a session on the ‘Impact of China’s Import Expansion on Economies in the Asia Pacific Region.’
The speakers discussed as to how the countries of the Asia Pacific Region take advantage of the China’s import expansion policy.
The business leaders at the fourth ICC RCG meeting resolved to have biennial meeting of the Asia Pacific CEO Forum for business development in the region.
The next meeting will be held in New Delhi in 2013 to be followed by another meeting in Beijing in 2015, according to the statement.
