Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A total of 86.37 percent candidates passed this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations across the country, showing a 4.21 percentage point higher than that of the previous year.
The combined pass rate of all the 10 education boards, including, Dakhil examinations under Madrasa Board and SSC vocational examinations under Technical Education Board, rose to 86.37 percent in 2012 from 82.16 percent in 2011, according to reports.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital Dhaka in the morning.
The minister will formally announce the results through a press briefing at the secretariat around 1:00pm, officials said.
The SSC and its equivalent Dakhil and SSC (vocational) results will also be available in the website www.educationboardresults.gov.bd.
Some 1.42 million examinees under 10 education boards sat for the public examination that began on February 1 this year. Of them about 0.74 million are male and 0.68 million female.
Besides, a total of 274 students took the exams from seven overseas centres.
The exams began on February 1 and ended on March 15.
