Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The left leaning political parties has termed the Awami League-led government’s budget proposals for the next fiscal year (FY) 2012-13 as ‘a document’ to make the rich richer.
Communist Party of Bangladesh president Manzurul Ahsan Khan and general secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim in their instant reaction on the proposed budget said it would widen the rich-poor gap.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith proposed BDT 1917.38 billion budget outlays for the FY’13 in the National Parliament with a Gross Domestic Production growth (GDP) of 7.2 per cent.
They said that the traditional budget failed to give new hope for the poor, who constitute the majority of the population of Bangladesh.
Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal general secretary Khalequzzaman said that the proposed budget reflected the political will of the Awami League-led government which failed to implement the budget promises it made in the outgoing fiscal year.
He said that the government failed to create new jobs and it failed to control the soaring prices and inflation and showed no silver lining for solving the problems in the next fiscal.
