India to provide 16 broad gauge locomotives to Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Indian Rites Limited will provide 16 broad gauge locomotives to Bangladesh Railway at a cost of BDT 6.09 billion.
 
An agreement to this effect was signed between Bangladesh Railway and 
Rites Limited at Rail Bhaban in the capital Dhaka on Sunday.
Joint Director General of Bangladesh Railway Shamsuzzaman and Director (Technical) of Rites Limited, an enterprise of the Indian government, signed inked the deal. 
Under the deal, Rites Limited will soon go for manufacturing the locomotives and start providing those after 18 months -- two each month.
Communications and Railways Minister Obaidul Quader, Railway Secretary Fazle Kabir and Director General of the Bangladesh Railway Abu Taher were present on the occasion.
