SME Foundation to provide BDT 50 million loan through MTB

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The SME Foundation will provide BDT 50 million loan to the small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) and Tk 10 million for selected 50 young entrepreneurs of Bangladesh Youth Enterprise Advice and Helpcentre (BYEAH).
“We’ll provide this loan at a four per cent interest rate to the Mutual Trust Bank Ltd (MTBL) and they will disburse this loan at nine per cent interest rate to the SMEs,” SME Foundation Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Syed Rezwanul Kabir said on Saturday.
The SME Foundation is going to sign an agreement with the MTBL at the end of this month, Mr. Kabir said while addressing as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of ‘Outreach to young entrepreneurs 2012’ at a city hotel jointly organised by BYEAH and Plan Bangladesh.
BYEAH and SME Foundation will jointly arrange training for young entrepreneurs and advise them for business planning. They signed an agreement in this connection in January this year. They will also give loan support and necessary consultancy service.    
BYEAH chairman and founder chairman of SME Foundation Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury said: “We’ve selected 50 young entrepreneurs and we will provide training and advice for business planning and after that a mentor for the entrepreneurs.”
Member of BYEAH Tim Steel, BYEAH Executive Director Robaiya Ahead were present, among others, at the ceremony.
