Dhaka University announces BDT 3.062 billion budget for FY’13

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dhaka University (DU) authority has announced its BDT 3.062 billion budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2012-13 of which 80.87 percent would be spent as salary and allowances for teachers, staff and employees.
DU treasurer Professor M Kamal Uddin placed the budget at the annual meeting of the Senate on Wednesday with Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair. 
The treasurer also presented a BDT 2.8668 billion revised budget for the current fiscal ending June 30. 
The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide BDT 2.374 billion for the next year's budget and BDT 320 million will come from DU's own sources. The budget will have a deficit of BDT 368 million, the treasurer told the senate. 
From the new budget BDT 2.348 billion will be spent for the education facilitating sector including salary and allowances and BDT 263 million for general and miscellaneous activities. 
Vice-Chancellor Professor Arefin Siddique in his welcome address urged all to contribute to their best towards making Dhaka University as one of the world's foremost seats of learning.
