Political clash kills two in Bangladesh

Khulna, Bangladesh (BBN)- Two people were killed and another was injured in a clash between the supporters of Awami League (AL) and BNP over establishing supremacy in counter’s southwestern Khulna district on Monday, police said.
The clash ensued hours after an altercation between the two rival parties around 9:30am at Dighalia upazila (sub-district), locals and police said.
The deceased were identified as Oliar Munshi, 60, BNP vice-president of Gazirhat Union unit, and Noor Islam Sheikh, 50, an activist of ruling AL and also inspector of Bangladesh Rural Development Board in Dighalia upazila.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avert further violence.
