Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh national cricket team left Dhaka Friday night for Trinidad to take part in a four-team Twenty20 competition under the banner of BCB XI as a part of preparation of ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka beginning on September 18.
The national team will play the first match against Barbados on September 6, the second against Afghanistan on September 7 and the third and last against Trinidad and Tobago on September 8 (D/N).
After the Trinidad tour, the Tigers will fly for Sri Lanka on September 9 to take part in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Earlier, on eve of the departure for Trinidad, Bangladesh head coach Richard Pybus said: “We need to play our best game on both days. They [New Zealand and Pakistan] are good sides, we have to respect them.”
Bangladesh team vice captain Mahmudullah said: “We are not thinking of two matches right now. We want to think about winning one match at a time. The coach said that our first target is to qualify for the Super Eights. We will set our next goals afterwards.”
All rounder Shakib Al Hasan said they are not thinking about the World Twenty20 now. They are taking it match by match. The next 2-3 weeks would be very important for them. If they can improve a bit through these games in Trinidad and Tobago, then they have a chance of doing well in the tournament.
