Last updated: September 19, 2012
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) threatened to stop manpower export on Wednesday if the government level agreement between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur was not scraped immediately.
Shah Jalal Mojumder, president of the BAIRA gave the warning at a press conference held in Ruposhi Bangla hotel in the capital Dhaka.
While reading out a written statement, the BAIRA chief also sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention in this regard.
On September 12, Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur decided to go for state level arrangements for recruitment of Bangladeshi workers by Malaysia, putting aside the long involvement of private manpower agencies and brokers in the process.
