India Trade Fair begins in Kolkata

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The India International Mega Trade Fair began at Science City in Kolkata on Friday. 
 
Commerce Minister of Bangladesh GM Quader inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Bangladesh is the partner country of the 11-day fair. About 232 participants from Bangladesh have put up 120 stalls showcasing the best of products from Bangladesh such as garments, copper ware, ceramics and leather goods. 
 
This significant participation of Bangladesh companies in a trade fair in India follows the successful holding of the 'India Show' in Dhaka from December 3-6, 2012 with focus on 'partnerships for development'. An important outcome of 'India Show' has been the offer of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Department of Commerce of India, Government of India to Board of Investment of Bangladesh and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) to organize similar events in various cities of India to attract investments in to Bangladesh. 
 
In the coming months the program of such investment attraction road shows in India will be worked out, an India High Commission press statement said.
