DSE benchmark index cross 2,800 after six months

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange(DSE) on Thursday crossed 2,800 mark after about six months of treading.

The DSE General Index (DGEN) increased 27 points or about one percent to close at 2807 on Thursday from 2780 points on Wednesday, amid huge turnover coupled with gains registered by most issues.

The All Shares Price Index (DSI) rose 25 points or one percent to close at 2,347 while the DSE-20 index of selective shares increased nine points or 0.40 percent to close at 2,213 points.

During the day’s trading, the total turnover increased from BDT 6.77 billion to BDT 7.73 billion, close to the highest ever BDT 7.81 billion recorded on June 7.

Market capitalization increased to BDT 1.144 trillion on Thursday from BDT 1.134 trillion on Wednesday.

Of the total 255 issues traded on the day, 150 registered gains, 97 incurred losses and eight remained unchanged.
