Boat capsizing kills six in southwestern Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least six persons, including three of a family, were drowned when an overloaded boat capsized in Nabaganga river at Srikundo village in Sadar upazila of the cpuntry’s southwestern Magura district early Saturday.
 
The victims were identified as Bizit Pramanik, 70, Nirapadah Pramanik, 62, Prazit Pramanik, 57, Kazal Mondol, 55, Uttar Pramanik, 50, and Dipro Pramanik, 13.
Of the victims, Prazit and Nirapadah were brothers while Dipro was the grandson of Nirapadah, according to reports,
Police said the boat carrying about 18 passengers sank in the middle of the river in dense fog when they were returning home after enjoying a religious festival in the nearby Boroi village. Others passengers of the boat managed to swim ashore.
Later, police recovered the bodies from the river.
