Six-hr strike in capital, port city, daylong elsewhere

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will enforce a strike for six hours in the capital Dhaka and port city Chittagong while daylong elsewhere in the country on Thursday demanding release of opposition leaders including war crimes suspects.
Jamaat has reduced the strike by six hours for the capital following a request by the president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to hold an annual program of the SCBA, a press statement said in Dhaka on Wednesday,
While the strike, popularly known as hartal, has been reduced in the port city considering a request by the organizers of Bangladesh Premier League, it added.
Meanwhile, opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has extended support to Thursday’s strike called by its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami, Rijvi Ahmed, joint secretary general of the main opposition, reportedly said.
