Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks closed lower Tuesday after two session of upward trend as prudent investors booked profit with turnover value remained satisfactory level.

The General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 4,332.03, losing 22.23 points or 0.51 per cent.

The newly introduced DSE Board Index (DSEX) lost 30.71 points or 0.71 per cent to close at 4,240.43. The DSE-30 Index (DS30) closed at 1,529.68 points, after losing 11.59 points or 0.75 per cent.

The turnover of the premier bourse — DSE stood at BDT 4.39 billion, almost same compared to previous session’s BDT 4.38 billion.

Of the 281 issues traded on the premier bourse, 78 advanced, 172 declined and 31 remained unchanged.

United Airways topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 304.31 million changing hands. Summit Purbanchol Power and Envoy Textile were the next popular stocks.

Green Delta Insurance was the day’s highest gainer for the second session following the news of its board meeting and posting a rise of 8.48 per cent while Shympur Sugar Mills was the worst loser, slumping by 8.53 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed negative with the Selective Categories Index of the CSE lost 59.14 points to close at 8,443.98 points.

Losers beat gainers 42 to 134 with 17 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with 12.65 million shares and mutual fund units were traded, generating BDT 478.70 million in turnover.
