Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir have no right to do politics in independent Bangladesh as they believe in the politics of terrorism.
"The politics of Jamaat-Shibir is the politics of terrorism and they don't believe in democracy," she told journalists after visiting the residence of slain blogger Ahmed Rajib Haidar at Pallabi in the capital Saturday afternoon.
The Prime Minister sought cooperation of the countrymen to save Bangladesh from the hands of Jamaat-Shibir. She also urged the people to stand beside the Shahbagh protestors.
Sheikh Hasina said her government has taken all out measures to ensure security to the Shahbagh protestors.
She said the youngsters have been able to awaken the whole nation after 1971. "But the killing of Haider occurred at the time when the youngsters have awakened and united the whole nation," she lamented.
The Prime Minister said all can guess who were behind the killing. "But let me promise that we will not spare the killers," she said.
Sheikh Hasina said, "We have expressed solidarity with the Shahbagh protestors who have raised demand to save the country from the clutches of Jamaat-Shibir."
The PM reached the residence of Haidar at around 3:30pm and stayed there for 25 minutes. She also talked and consoled the family member of Haidar, activist of the ongoing Shahbagh movement in demand of capital punishment to the war criminals.
The heavily stabbed body of Haidar, the 30-year-old architect, was found Friday night near his residence at Palashnagar at Pallabi in the capital.
