Atiur gets three-year extension as BB governor

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The government has extended the tenure of Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor Dr Atiur Rahman by another three years, said assistant spokesperson at the central bank on Thursday. 
AFM Asaduzzaman said Dr Atiur will now serve the central bank as governor till August 2, 2016. An official order to this effect was issued by the Public Administration Ministry on Wednesday night. 
Dr Atiur’s current tenure as governor of Bangladesh Bank expires on May 1 next. He was appointed as the 10th governor of the central bank on April 28, 2009 and took over the responsibility on May 1 of the same year.
