Two RMG factory owners arrested over Savar tragedy

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Two garment factory owners were arrested from the city’s Ramna area early Saturday in connection with the disastrous building collapse in Savar.
The arrested were identified as Bazlus Samad Adnan,45, chairman of New Weave Bottoms and New Weave Style, and Mahmudur Rahman Tapas, managing director of the two garment units.
Deputy Commissioner (Public relations) Masudur Rahman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said a team of Dhaka district DB police conducted a drive in Ramna area at about 12.30am and arrested the duo.
More than 300 people, mainly female workers, were killed and more than 1,000 were injured when the eight-storey Rana Plaza factory building in Savar, outside the capital, collapsed on Wednesday last.
