Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) led 18-party alliance has called another 72-hour countrywide blockade from 6:00am Saturday.
The anti-government agitation is targeted at realising three demands: postponement of the schedule of next parliamentary election, polls under a non-party caretaker government and release of arrested opposition leaders.
Salahuddin Ahmed, spokesman of BNP, the key constituent of the 18-party opposition alliance, made the announcement of the fresh blockade through a video message sent from unknown location, according to reports.
Announcement of the fresh blockade came less than a day after Ahmed, a joint secretary general of BNP, threatened with tough anti-government agitation if their demands were not met in 24 hours.
