New Delhi, India (BBN) - India confirmed 22 more cases of the deadly Influenza A (H1N1) virus on Wednesday, taking the total cases to 596, health ministry officials said.
Of the 22 new cases that tested positive for swine flu, five came from New Delhi, four from Mumbai, three from each Pune and Gurgaon and one each from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Chaennai, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur, according to a health ministry press statement.
So far, 2617 people have been tested, of which 596 are positive for Influenza A (H1N1), 602 out of the 2617 tested have been identified through entry screening, 567 people through contact tracing and the rest were self reported, the statement added.
"Of the 595 positive cases, 482 have been discharged. One case has died," the ministry said, adding that rest of them remains admitted to the identified health facility.
