Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh is organizing a musical evening by eminent Bangladeshi artist, Ms. Priyanka Gope at 6:30 PM on Friday at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in the capital Dhaka.

Ms. Gope is a leading exponent of Classical Vocal Music. Trained under maestros such as Ananda Chakrabarty, Dr. Asit Roy, Wahidul Haque, Prof. Subir Nandy, Smt. Shubhra Guha and Falguni Mitra, Ms. Gope completed her M.A. from the Department of Music, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. She is presently receiving training from Pandit Arun Bhaduri and Pandit Urmi Dasgupta. Ms. Gope has won several national and international awards such as Gold Model by Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh for securing first position in Nazrul Sangeet in the National Education Week, 2001; Best Vocal Artist  in Tangail and greater Mymensingh in 1999; first place in the Rabindra Sangeet competition organised by “National Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Porishod” in 2003; Acharya Uday Bhushan Smriti Purashkar by Rabindra Bharati University in 2003 and, first position in Thumri and second position in Khayal in the 56thtalent hunt competition organized by the Dover Lane Music Conference and Academy, among others.

Ms. Gope is an enlisted ‘A Grade’ artist of Bangladesh Betar in the categories of Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet and classical music. She is also enlisted as a Regular Artist of BTV in the category of Rabindra Sangeet. She has performed at several prestigious venues such as the Rabindra Bharati University Manch, Madhusudan Manch, Rabindra Sadan Manch, Bengali Music Fair among others. She has also performed at the Akashbani Kolkata, Tara Music Channel and Fortune Channel (Live) in 2005, 2006 and 2007 as an invited artist.
 
Ms. Gope has released a solo album “Sur-e Sur-e Dekha Hobey” comprising classical based modern songs under the aegis of Bengal Foundation. She has also released 7 other albums on different genres of music with other artists.
