Manila, Philippines (BBN) - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing additional technical assistance to help the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh combat the devastating impact of floods and river erosion.

Arunachal Pradesh is in the Brahmaputra River Basin, one of the most flood-prone parts of the world, and the incidence of poverty in the state is higher than the national level, an ADB press statement said on Thursday.

The ADB will provide a $150,000 grant from its technical assistance funding program to help prepare the Integrated Flood and River Erosion Management Project – Arunachal Pradesh.

An additional $750,000 in co-financing will be supplied by the Multi-Donor Trust Fund, under the Water Financing Partnership Facility administered by ADB.

The Fund’s contributors include the governments of Australia, Austria, and Norway. The state government will provide $230,000 equivalent, according to the statement.
