Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Budget carrier Air India Express (AIE) is set to start low cost Dhaka-Kolkata fight with convenient onward connection to Singapore from Sunday.
The Dhaka-Kolkata flight IX 911 will depart Dhaka at 7.30 pm and arrive in Kolkata at 7.50 pm (local time). It will also offer the passengers, immediate onward connection on Flight IX 922 to Singapore, depart Kolkata at 9:00 pm (local time) and arrive in Singapore at 03.30 am (local time), according to an AIE statement.
Besides, Kolkata-Dhaka flight IX 912 will depart Kolkata at 5.20 pm and arrive in Dhaka at 6.40 pm. The passengers coming from Singapore and travelling to Dhaka will have convenient connection at Kolkata. The arrival time of the flight from Singapore will be 4.30 pm in Kolkata.
AIE will offer the services four times a week - Mondays, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
"We will be offering competitive and affordable fares on both sectors", said K Shyam Sundar, Chief Executive Officer of AIE, adding, "We maintain 100 percent schedule reliability and on-time performance of the airline is above 80 percent."
India's first international budget carrier, AIE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India Limited. The budget carrier currently operates around 500 flights per week, connecting 14 Indian cities to 14 destinations in the Middle East and South East Asia.
The airline has a fleet of 23 Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft, six of which are brand new having joined the fleet recently on dry lease. These new aircraft are equipped to carry more capacity and come with lighter seats and higher performance capabilities.
"Though the airline follows the market principles of a low cost carrier, AIE offers complimentary tea, coffee and meals on board as its USP ", added Shyam Sundar.
The airline now offers passengers the additional facility to buy a special meal of their choice online on selected sectors. AIE offers passengers the ease of reserving their seat of choice online while booking tickets on the airline's website www.airindiaexpress.in.
