Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The BCB has announced a month-long elite players’ conditioning camp for 27 players, starting from August 22.
The first part of the camp will focus on strength and conditioning training, and will be followed by a skills camp from September 5, reports ESPNcricinfo.
The group includes nearly all players who played international cricket this year, as well as four players – Mohammad Mithun, Shafiul Islam, Robiul Islam and Al-Amin Hossain – who didn’t feature for Bangladesh in 2015.
This is the first call-up for Al-Amin after he was sent home mid-way through the World Cup on disciplinary grounds. Board officials and selectors maintained that he wasn’t considered for matches against Pakistan, India and South Africa due to form.
Some of the players in the camp will also be kept available for Bangladesh A’s tour to South Africa and Zimbabwe in October and November this year.
The senior side’s next assignment is a two-match Test series against Australia in early October.

The training camp will begin under Mario Villavarayen, the team’s strength and conditioning coach, in Mirpur.
Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach, and Heath Streak, the bowling coach, will join within a week after their holidays. Mashrafe Mortaza, who has been training according to a BCB-set programme, and Shakib Al Hasan, who is in the USA, will also join after a few days’ break.
To give the players match practice ahead of the two Tests, the BCB has decided to start the National Cricket League first-class competition in mid-September.
Last season’s competition began in January 2015, and ended with Rangpur Division securing their maiden NCL title.
After a meeting on Wednesday, BCB’s tournament committee chairman Akram Khan said that the board is looking at holding the tournament early after Hathurusingha requested him to organise a couple of first-class games ahead of the Australia series.
“We want to start the NCL tentatively on September 15 or 17,” Akram said.
“During the last series, our coach Hathurusingha asked me to see whether one or two longer-version matches can be arranged before the Test series. We are also trying to have a sporting wicket because, along with the NCL, we also need to prepare our national cricketers for the home series.”
