Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least six workers were killed and six others injured in a fire that raged through a readymade garment factory at Mohammadpur in the capital Dhaka Saturday afternoon, just two months after more than 111 killed in another apparel factory fire.

The six were pronounced dead after they were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and different nearby hospitals, Manjurul Kabir, deputy commissioner of the Tejgaon division, reportedly confirmed.
Nine units of firefighters from different stations brought the blaze under control after fighting for over an hour around 3:50pm, a senior official of the Fire Service and Civil Defence said, adding that  the fire broke out at the first floor of the two-story building of Smart Garments in Beribadh area around 2:40pm.
More than 111 people were killed and nearly 100 injured in a devastating fire that raged through Tazreen Fashion Ltd at Nishchintapur in Ashulia on November 24.
