Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– About 200 garments workers put up barricade on Ashulia-Abdullahpur road from 8:00 am (local time) Monday, protesting the killing of their two fellow workers in the last two days.

Workers of different garments gathered at different points of the road and blocked 15 kilometers area halting the vehicular movement.

Police fired rubber bullets to break up the demonstrators who took to the streets following the last two days’ pitched battles that left two of their fellow workers killed and around 200 injured.

The demonstrators set fire to a garment factory belonging to Hanim Group at Narsinghpur in Savar, locals said.

The garment workers also this morning staged demonstrations at Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in protest against the deaths of their colleagues, according to reports.
