Apparel workers urged to avoid train, bus roof riding

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Leaders of Regional Crisis Prevention Committee (RMG sector) on Saturday urged the RMG workers not to take ride on the rooftops of buses or trains risking their lives while going back home ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
The request was made at a meeting of the committee (Ashulia-Savar zone) held at the conference room of Starling Creation Garment Ltd with local MP Talukder M Touhid Zong Murad in the chair.
Vice President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) M Siddiqur Rahman, former vice-president M Atikul Islam, additional SP Rafique, director of Industrial Police Abdur Rouf Khan, chief factory inspector Habibur Rahman, Savar Circle ASP Monwar Hossain, Labour director Khurshid, labour leaders Shamima Nasrin and Lima Ferdous were present at the meeting, a BGMEA statement said.
The committee leaders at the meeting sought the cooperation of all in ensuring timely disbursement of salaries and Eid bonuses of the workers so that the RMG workers can properly celebrate the Eid. 
The meeting also decided that the regional crisis prevention committee will work until discipline is restored in the sector.
