Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Mohammad Ashraful cracked his sixth Test century on Sunday as Bangladesh are batting against Sri Lanka’s 570-run in the first innings on the third day of the first Test match.

Ashraful scored 107 featuring 10 boundaries and one six and was remain unbeaten on the crease, reports the Daily Star, a local newspaper.
Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim also on the crease scoring 25 as Bangladesh scored 224 losing four wickets at lunch.

Debutant Mominul Haque returned to the pavilion after hitting a half-century. He scored 55 that featured nine boundaries.
On the other hand, Mahmudullah could not make any run.

The match started at 10:30am at Galle International Stadium in Sri Lanka.

Resumed at 135 for 1 in the morning, Mominul added only 20 runs before caught behind by Angelo Mathews.

Earlier on Saturday, opener Jahurul scored 20 off 32 balls before caught behind by wicketkeeper Dinesh Chandimal.

Debutant Anamul Haque scored only 13 before clean bowled by Ajantha Mendis.

Sri Lankam bowlers Shaminda Eranga and Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara and Rangana Herath grabbed one wicket each.

Earlier, the hosts sent the Tigers to bat declaring their first innings at 570 on the second day at Galle International Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers scored 44 for one in 14.5 overs after a confident start following Sri Lanka’s declaration of the first inning at 570 riding on twin centuries by Lahiru Thirimanne and Dinesh Chandimal.

Shaminda Eranga picked up Jahurul’s wicket in the 5th ball of the 8th over. The Bangladesh opener did not get the height of the bouncer. The ball caught his gloves and went to the keeper.

Earlier, Thirumanne and Chandimal remained unbeaten at 155 and 116 as the hosts declared their innings after piling up the mammoth total losing four wickets.
Pacer Abul Hasan of Bangladesh took one wicket.

Earlier on Friday, spinner Sohag Gazi took three wickets.

Kumar Sangakara scored 142 and Tilkaratne Dilshan scored 54 runs.

The Tigers reached Sri Lanka on February 28 to play two Test matches, three one-day international and a T20 matches during the tour.

The second and final Test will take place in Colombo from March 16 to 20.

The ODIs will be held on March 23, 25 and 28.

The two countries will play the lone T20 match on March 31.
