Bangladesh’s Asia Insurance recommends 10% dividend

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s Asia Insurance Company has recommended 10 percent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016, officials said on Thursday.

The dividend recommendation came at a meeting of board of directors of the company held on Thursday in the capital city Dhaka.
The final approval of shareholders will come during the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on May 21 in Dhaka.
The record date for entitlement of dividend is on April 27.
The insurer has also reported earnings per share (EPS) of BDT 1.60 and net asset value (NAV) per share of BDT 17.86 for the year ended on December 31, 2016.
There will be no price limit on the trading of the shares of the company on Sunday (April 9) following its corporate declaration.
Each share of company, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2009, closed at BDT 22.50 on Thursday, the last trading session of the week.
The company also disbursed 10 percent cash dividend in 2015.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 470.69 million and authorised capital is BDT 1.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 47.06 million.
The sponsor-directors own 41.56 percent stake in company, while institutional investors own 30.68 percent and the general public 27.76 percent as on March 31, 2017, the DSE data shows.
