Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman left Dhaka for Lima Sunday night to attend the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The three-day annual conference is scheduled to be held at Lima Convention Center in the capital of Peru from October 9.
Different issues including the global economy, climate change, infrastructure and the food system will be discussed in the conference.
BB Governor Dr Rahman will also participate in a series of high-level meetings with his counterparts and Commonwealth senior officials.
He is also scheduled to deliver speeches and present papers at different discussions which will be held prior to the conference from October 6-7.
Besides, the BB Governor will take part the Vulnerable Twenty  Group of Ministers of Finance, generally known as V20 Groups of Ministers of Finance, of the CVF (Climate Vulnerable Forum) on October 8.
Later on the same day, Dr Rahman will also attend the 31st SAARC FINANCE Group meeting.
The SAARC FINANCE was formed in October 1998 as a network of central bank governors and finance secretaries of the SAARC region that groups Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
It is now working to promote cooperation and research, training and exchange of ideas and information on economic and financial issues among its member countries.
The BB Governor is expected to return home on October 14 after deliberation of his speech on Game Changer: Technology and Sustainable Growth at Hotel Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
