Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Only 4.15 percent of the total mobile subscriber base in Bangladesh uses 3G services, BTRC data shows.
The total number of 3G users crossed 4.8 million at the end of July, whereas the total active mobile users stood at 116.8 million, said the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
According to the data, Robi, the third largest operator in the country in terms of total active users, became the 3G market leader with 1.3 million connections, reports telecompaper quoting the data.
The leading operator Grameenphone so far attracted 1.29 million subscribers to its 3G offers, while its total number of active subscribers was around 50 million.
As of July, the state-owned mobile operator Teletalk's total active users crossed 3.67 million and out of that 1.44 million were using 3G services, according to the BTRC statistics.
Banglalink had 0.66 million 3G subscribers out of a total 29 million customers.
Airtel's total subscribers stood at 8.3 million, of which 0.54 million have started using 3G.
