Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The daily salary of agricultural workers was increased by about 10 percent in Bangladesh since May 25 to deal with current market prices and inflation.

The decision was taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and it was published in the official gazette on May 25, 2014, reports World Farmers’ Association.

The salary increase was possible due to the effective role played by Bangladesh Agricultural Farm Labour Federation (BAFLF) and it is linked to the current market prices and inflation.

The salary increase of Bangladeshi agricultural workers is an opportunity to recall the critical role they played in the agricultural sector.

The agricultural workers make up a significant segment of the rural workforce and they play an active part in sustainable agriculture and rural development as well as in industrial change and in protecting the environment.
