Gazipur, Bangladesh (BBN) – A massive fire broke out at an apparel factory in the country’s central Gazipur district on early Saturday.
The fire ensued on the second floor of a five-storey building of Tropical Kintex Limited in the area at about 12:45am (local time) and soon spread to other floors, a local fire service official told BBN.
The blaze could not be tamed as yet while this report was being filed at 3:49 pm (local time), the official confirmed.
He, however, said at least 14 firefighting units from Gazipur, Joydebpur, Mirzapur, Savar EPZ and Kaliakoir fire stations rushed to the spot and were trying to douse the fire. “It seems we will need a few more hours to put out the fire completely.”
Machinery, threads, cloths and other valuables were damaged in the fire, he said, adding that it could not be ascertained yet what caused the fire.
