Bangladesh approves development projects worth US$1.51bn

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s highest economic policy-making body has approved eight development projects worth 125 billion taka (1.51 billion U.S. dollars).
The projects were approved at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday, reports News Ghana quoting Xinhua.
After the ECNEC meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told journalists that the key projects include a 55.35-billion-taka project to build the country’s local government institutions and a 26.357-billion-taka rural infrastructure development project.
Acording to the minister, the costs will come from the national exchequer, some organizations’ fund, and project assistance. (1 U.S. dollar = 83 Bangladeshi taka).
